Life in the FOUR design studio – Luke joins us for work experience

We recently had the pleasure of Luke joining the FOUR team on a week’s work experience placement, within our creative design studio in Norwich.

Luke usually spends his days at Toynbee School in Eastleigh, Hampshire as a year 10 student. As he had expressed an interest in graphic design, his mum (who studied Graphic Design at University with FOUR’s Creative Director, Scott) arranged a placement to allow him to learn more about life working in a creative design agency.

During his week’s placement, Luke worked closely with Scott, who showed him the ropes. They covered the basics of working within a design studio, and as Luke demonstrated a strong desire to work with logos and branding, Scott talked him through FOUR’s principals on designing logos and brands.

Luke also had the opportunity to spend time with our designer/photographer, Ash, who took him on a shoot at Norwich based, Chantry Place. He worked alongside Ash to create visual content for the client’s social media accounts and on a blog for their website.

It was a real pleasure to have Luke in the design studio. He really immersed himself into agency life and was like a sponge, learning a lot, quickly! After only a short time of talking him through the basics, it wasn’t long before Luke was using software, such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign for himself, which was very impressive for someone his age.

Creative Director, Scott was excited to see his design knowledge and level of understanding. He mixed well with the team and was very comfortable in the studio.

We hope Luke keeps up his level of enthusiasm for graphic design and enjoys a future as a designer!
